Evolution of the Business
The beginning of Immulab started way back in 1939 during WWII when CSL (now Immulab) commenced the supply of blood typing sera to the Australian Red Cross. Australia became the only country in the world to type blood for all service personnel. In 1983 the manufacture of Reagent Red Blood Cell (RRBC) commenced for the Australian market, using locally sourced raw materials and developed by our dedicated team. The quality of our Australian made product resulted in the Commonwealth Government selecting our company as the sole supplier of Reagent Red Blood Cells. In 1993 our company enters into a Diagnostic Product Agreement (DPA) for the supply of RRBCs manufactured from blood sourced from the Australian Red Cross Blood Service (now known as Australian Red Cross Lifeblood). Continually looking to improve our product and range, Immulab developed 0.8% RRBCs in 2004 for column agglutination testing platforms. Immulab launched our QC products in 2005, giving the Australian market a new benchmark in diagnostic confidence and versatility in the Immunohaematology laboratory. Our QC material ensures an unbiased challenge to any Blood Bank system.
2008 saw the birth of our long term relationship with Asia. We expanded into the Asian markets with several distribution agreements and launched our RRBC range.
2014 saw our partnership with Immucor begin. Placing us in a position to deliver to the Australian/New Zealand market a tried and tested automation platform and increase our reagent range. With this partnership firmly in place we were able to complete the roll out of Solid Phase Technology (SPT) Instrumentation into the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood in 2016.
We are proud of our long history and look forward to achieving many more milestones into the future.
